The health-promoting effects of some essential oils may be due to their ability to prevent bacteria from conspiring against us.

From one end to the other bacteria are being implicated in cancer.

Halfway through, the risk of pancreatic cancer is intriguingly doubled in those with gingivitis.

Finally, at the other end, E. coli looks to be the driving force in colorectal cancers.

None of which is all that surprising when you consider that "bacteria deliver a genotoxic hit".
